RF AWARENESS TRAINING

RF Awareness Safety Training

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that companies provide RF awareness safety training to their employees. This training is necessary because RF (radio frequency) radiation has the potential to cause significant health risks if workers are exposed to high levels.

The purpose of OSHA's training mandate is to ensure that employees are knowledgeable about the potential hazards associated with RF radiation. By equipping workers with this information, employers can empower them to protect themselves from harm. This training covers topics such as the health effects of RF radiation, safe work practices, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working near RF-emitting equipment.

RF Awareness Course Overview

By providing RF awareness safety training, organizations can effectively raise awareness about the hazards associated with RF radiation and educate their employees on how to work safely around RF-emitting equipment and devices.

FAQs

Who should take RF Awareness training?

  • Individuals working with or around RF-emitting equipment, including employees, contractors, and supervisors, should take RF awareness training to understand hazards and safety measures. OSHA requires employers to provide a safe workplace, and if RF radiation is present and poses a potential hazard, employers are obligated to address and mitigate those hazards to ensure worker safety.

Why is RF Awareness training neccessary?

  • OSHA's General Duty Clause (Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act) requires employers to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards that could cause serious harm or death to employees. If RF radiation is present in a workplace and poses a potential hazard to employees, employers are responsible for addressing this hazard to protect their workers.

How long will this training take to complete?

  • This training can usually be completed in about one hour.

How frequently should this training be completed?

  • Workers should be trained upon initial hire. Retraining is recommended at least every two years.
